Our 125 mile tester ride
Karl and Simon did a days riding raising funds for the Pilgrims Hospice riding 125 miles around Kent. The staff and volunteers made a fantastic job or organising the Cycle Challenge, we had a great day.
Interesting blood glucose problems during ride. I (Karl) had low blood sugar 1 hour into ride so decided to disconnect insulin pump and manage manually. I needed no insulin until 9pm in the evening having consumed over 3000 calories. I am definitely a type 1 diabetic so is this evidence of insulin pooling in subcutaneous tissue – watch this space….
The fantastic Fuji Comp SL-1 bike I used served me well, but the freewheel failed half way round, I had to peddle continuously to prevent it seizing, so it’s off to the bike doctors soon.
Incidentally I am not dressed as Spiderman, Spyder is a brand of American sports clothing.
