Strengen to Strass im Zillertal (Austria)
Leaving our lovely AirBnB in Schonwies (highly recommended) we started riding from Strengen towards Strass im Zimmertal. The Austria scenery was stunning, every corner you turn exposes outrageous images which photos cannot capture. The railway bridge across a valley with a castle to the left is a classic example, 4 miles downstream from Strengen, looked like a scene from a Disney movie.
We followed the Inns river, a bubbling stream at St. Anton im Arlburg 2 days ago now a wide fast flowing river to Innsbruck. The cycle paths through Innsbruck allowed us to quickly navigate the city and send us on our way. Shortly after leaving Innsbruck we came across Austrian rescue services training river recovery in mad conditions (see video).
We finished at a lovely Honey shop where we had some strong coffee’s and Honey chocolate.
The day had a few climbs, but we in total we only had to climb 610m, we tried to push our average above 15mph by cycling above 18mph for most of the day, but Innsbruch city slowed out average.
Stats: Milage 87 miles, climbed 610m, average speed 14.8mph.
