Nieuwpoort to Antwerp

Setting of early I was looking forward to Bruges- so setting of at 7am we enjoyed hours riding on superb cycle paths and track – soon realising bikes have priority over cars – amazing. Late morning the temperatures reached 29 degrees and we hit section of road beside a motorway with strong headwinds – yuk!. But soon we were in a pretty town where Simon liked it so much he kissed the road by falling off his bike again. After regaining his pride we ventured on to realise half an hour later it was Bruges – oops! – better luck next time – we finally got to our accommodation in Antwerp at 17:30.

After many diversions we ended up covering about 92 miles – with temperatures reaching 33 degrees at 3pm.

The cycle paths had sections of cobbles just to make it more interesting – painful, dangerous, and tiring!
